Offer integral perspectives and practices that deepen our genuine connections
and meaningful commitments to ourselves, each other, and the world.

In a world that seemingly encourages us to exist in the shallows—skimming and surfing our way through existence rather than embracing the deeper truths of our own experience—perspectives and practices that engage us in being more fully present with ourselves, each other, and the world are more important than ever. Lumina Yoga offers integral perspectives and practices that deepen our genuine connections and meaningful commitments to ourselves, each other, and the world.
Yoga is essentially an integral philosopy offering a profound and proven system of practices for experiencing the unity within, between, and all around us. We specialize in bringing yoga to life, creating personal, affordable, and sustainable practices that nourish an intimate connection with your own experience as a way of developing a more integral understanding of your self and your world.
Our Contemplative Yoga waters the essential roots of yogic tradition, placing greater emphasis on the more introspective and meditative aspects of yoga. Our Conversational Yoga is an opportunity to work together applying integral perspectives and practices to real issues and important questions that you are currently living. Finally, for people primarily interested in mat-based yoga for relaxation and wellness, we offer our Contemporary Yoga.
How we work
Yoga, like anything else, requires consistent attention and commitment to be of real value. There are no shortcuts. To experience the many life-affirming and often, life-changing benefits of yoga, it is important to set aside regular time for practice.
Our clients are busy people with hectic schedules who have figured out that investing in their well-being is well worth their time and money. Typically, we work with people who are willing to commit to at least five sessions of practice, usually once per week for five weeks. This initial commitment establishes a stable foundation for a yoga practice that can last a lifetime with benefits that extend well beyond these first five sessions. You will leave these sessions feeling renewed, energized, and inspired.
If you genuinely want to practice yoga—contemplative, conversational, or contemporary—but can’t find at least an hour or so once a week to practice, here’s what we think: you could probably really benefit from a consistent yoga practice, and you’re not yet ready to commit to what it takes to truly benefit from what yoga has to offer. And that’s ok. We’ll still be here when you’re ready, and we promise, you will be so happy that you decided to make time.
Still curious, but undecided? Here are seven reasons to work with us.
Meanwhile, commitment-phobic Drop-in Dabblers & Yoga Flirts—you know who you are—happy flirting and dabbling. We appreciate flirting and dabbling—just not while we work. If you want to flirt and dabble, there are a gazillion other places to play the yoga field. When you’re ready to commit, get in touch. We’d love to work with you.
For the convenience of groups (friends, families, communities, organizations, network members, etc.) who wish to learn and practice together, most of our offerings are also available as group intensives. Individual intensives may also be arranged for those individual clients who are truly committed, but whose circumstances are less than optimal for multiple sessions (maybe you live farther away or work conflicting hours).
About the Lumina Living Room Studio
Yup, it’s just what it sounds like, a studio that also functions as a living room when not in use. Why not rent or maintain a space dedicated just to yoga? Well, for one thing, there’s the rent. Having a flexible home studio, keeps costs and rates affordable, which works for our clients and for us. Plus, we get to enjoy the space even when we're not working with clients, which appeals to our sense of efficiency and sustainability. Why waste space?
More significantly, we believe that the most important dedicated yoga space is the one you develop within yourself. Because we're more interested in lives dedicated to yoga, and specialize in integral perspectives and practices—the yoga of everyday life—much of our yoga happens wherever you are. Unlike much conventional mat-based yoga, our teachings encompass all aspects of yoga, contemplative, conversational, and contemporary, so many of our clients practice aspects of yoga at home, at work, and at play with no need for mats or floor space.
That said, conventional studio yoga enthusiasts may rest assured that it’s like any other yoga studio: beautiful hardwood floors, soothing wall colors, inspiring artwork, yoga mats and props—and occasional furniture. Fees & Alternative Currency Options
If you've read this far, you probably have a sense that our work is valuable to you, but now you may be wondering what it will cost. Our fees depend on the offering, the number of people, and the level of commitment, but rest assured that in most cases what you will spend on yoga is likely be far less than what the average person spends annually on personal grooming products and services. We are sincerely committed to offering quality services for affordable prices. For more detailed descriptions of our service offerings and associated fees, please visit: Conversational Yoga, Contemplative Yoga, and Contemporary Yoga.
ALTERNATIVE CURRENCY OPTIONS
Pro Bono, Pay It Forward
You’re doing good work, want to hire us, but can’t afford our services. We think that your good work is worth our time, so we decide to offer our services to you pro bono if you agree to pay it forward by offering your services for free to someone else in need. Assuming we’re a good fit, here’s how it works: We help you. You help someone else and share your Pay It Forward Story with us in writing within an agreed upon timeframe using our storytelling format (three key questions that you answer as part of sharing your story). We all feel good doing more good. It’s that simple.*
Barter
You want to hire us and would prefer to pay us with something other than money, and you have something else of value to offer—relevant skills, resources, referrals, etc.that we actually need or want, so we agree to work for a fair trade. We have been known to work for graphic design, website development, bodywork, and landscaping. Other alternative currencies we value are outrageous travel opportunities, stellar education invitations, and honestly positive press coverage. We have even worked for fresh baked bread (it was really good bread). Assuming we’re a good fit, here’s how it works: We bring the valuable teaching, coaching, and consulting. You bring the valuable x (je ne sais quoi). We exchange the good stuff, and we all feel good.
*Please note: even though we love our work enough to offer it free of charge, we still have bills to pay and the people who collect our bills only accept traditional currency, so please consider your options carefully before approaching us about Pro Bono and Bartering work.
